Police are continuing an investigation after the discovery of a sloop in Provo early Tuesday thought to have carried illegal immigrants to the TCI. A local resident reported seeing the vessel land in the South Dock area and persons running from the vicinity just before 3am yesterday. It is unclear how many people were on board the sloop, which is believed to have arrived in Provo from Haiti. Police and immigration officers are currently searching the area and making enquires within the local communities. A RTCI Police spokesman said the investigation also involves officers from the Immigration Department. The problem of illegal immigration is one that for the moment the authorities may not be winning.
