Public Consultation started this week regarding proposed new rules and regulations governing the conduct of politicians and parties in the TCI particularly during elections. New laws will follow the consultation that will govern donations, limits for campaign spending, accounting requirements and policing by the Integrity Commission. The figure of 50,000 dollars has been suggested as the maximum party donation. The proposed new law seeks to remove forever-previous improper practices that worked against the democratic process.
