However, one of the losing candidates, Mr. Devon Williams, is calling for the result to be declared null and void and he wants a re-run of selection supervised closely by the Governor’s office. He’s also demanding the resignation of Mr. Cooke. Williams told Dale le Vack about his grievances.
The Board of Management of one of the older companies on Providentiales producing Conch announced today that it had closed for business because of the failure of the TCIG to meet its legal obligations. It says it is considering taking legal action against the Government.

The Government has announced it is planning to introduce two controversial Bills that will fundamentally affect the control of public broadcasting in the Turks and Caicos Islands – so that it falls under the final control of the Governor and is forever free of political interference. It will scrap the Broadcasting Commission, which came into being in 1998, to provide for the establishment of a public broadcasting service and a broadcasting complaints committee.
