In a Written Ministerial Statement on 9 December 2010 was when UK Ministers agreed there will be milestones for progress towards TCI elections- milestones, including putting the public finances on the road to recovery, establishing a robust framework for good governance, and strengthening the public service. The last updated to the House of Commons on progress against the milestones was on 12 June 2012…today UK Overseas Territories Minister Mark Simmonds gives the latest milestone update to the House.
Four years after hurricane Ike ravished the Turks and Caicos Islands causing widespread damage to homes on South Caicos, Grand Turk and Salt Cay, applicants can now apply for financial assistance for the reconstruction or rehabilitation of their damaged properties following the release of five million Euros (approx. $6.5m) which was being withheld since 2010.

TCI Residents this weekend were out in full, sporting red ribbons to acknowledge the presence of HIV and AIDS in the community. The community came together for the cause at a fundraiser held at Grace Bay Club, by the Turks and Caicos AIDS Awareness Foundation.
World AIDS Day, observed on 1 December every year, is dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection. As people worldwide pause to unite in the fight against Discrimination, officials from the National Aids Programme in the TCI are also taking a consistent stand to stamp-out strains of the prejudice through a number of events.
Continuing with our World Day highlights, this morning at the Enid Capron Primary school was the releasing of the the balloons… this signifies the loss of life and those infected with HIV/Aids.
The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police has made a major step today to improve and streamline its Public relations…with the appointment of Journalist Audley Astwood. We were there for the swearing-in ceremony.
